Amsterdam Centre for European Studies - Program Assistant

Until November 2021 I was working as Program Assistant for the Amsterdam Centre for European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, an interdisciplinary center of excellence on contemporary Europe, the European Union, and its member states. We organize and facilitate interdisciplinary academic and public lectures, seminars, summer schools and conferences but also facilitate interdisciplinary research and policy papers.
I was mostly focused on supporting and organising the public (online) lecture series and events. Last year several successful series were launched, like the Decolonising Europe series with 2000 viewers on Youtube.

I conducted research on different initiatives in Europe on the topic ‘City Rights for Undocumented’. I interviewed NGOs and city governments to learn from their policy experiences and translated these to the political context in Amsterdam. I also took part in an expertise session by the Council with undocumented residents of Amsterdam as part of the research. I drafted different policy proposals for the city council, in paid assignment for Femke Roosma. The results were reported in Het Parool and discussed in the Council of Amsterdam.
‘Where is Europe?’ - European Storytelling & Interviews

During this self-initiated project, I collected stories and perspectives on European Identity all over Europe. For four months I interviewed cultural entrepreneurs, activists, politicians, academics, and locals about their vision on Europe and the EU. The results are published on the website. I was invited and funded for a lecture at Windesheim Zwolle and organized a funded workshop for NGO campaigners in Brussels.

A collective transnational grassroots campaign with and by progressive and Pro-European activists, individuals, organisations etc. in more than 11 European cities that I co-founded. I was responsible for the long term strategic planning, community management and the research for a strategic campaign and narrative.

New Europeans, Amsterdam —Program Intern

Six months Cultural activist project as part of the program of the Dutch presidency of the EU. I supported the multicultural group of artists in content creation, in production of the events and drafting the monthly reports of the project for the Ministry of Foreign affairs. I specifically supported the artists in engaging with topics in the European studies field like symbolism, identity and European governance. Read More

As Research Intern I independently analysed the differences in public debates between the Netherlands and Germany during the election campaigns for the European Parliament. The research consisted of an in-depth analyses of language used, narratives and topics chosen in the political party programs and media debates for both countries.
